The air conditioning system should be serviced at least every two years. This makes it much less likely that you will encounter the serious problems that result from air or moisture entering the system, low refrigerant levels etc.
If the refrigerant gets low then the system will be less efficient and will have to work harder reducing your fuel economy; a system that is kept topped up can save you money on fuel.
